Featured Work: "Girl in Green Coat" (SOLD)

Framed, graphite and watercolor on watercolor paper, 24 x 18 in.

The initial inspiration for "Girl in Green Coat" was a photograph I've always loved of a 4-year-old me in an Austrian dress. But the piece isn't meant to be a facsimile of the photo, and it isn't. To begin with, the dress was too complicated to replicate, and in any case I think would have been distracting. So I borrowed a different dress from another picture. I drew the piece in graphite on watercolor paper. The faded olive green of the dress, which unfortunately barely registers in the photograph, was added by watercolor wash.
